Candy Maker at Work
Since 1924

A Century of Uncompromised Quality

In an age of automated high-speed extrusion and hyper-processed artificial sweets, Heritage Sweets & Co. remains dedicated to the patient, tactile art of copper-kettle boiling. Founded in the rolling hills of Vermont, our kitchen still honors the foundational principles of confectionery excellence.

Every single batch of our hard candies is heated over open flame in copper kettles, brought to precisely 310°F to produce the hard crack stage, and kneaded over traditional marble slabs. This slow, deliberate process creates a glass-like clarify and allows delicate herbal and fruit oils to fully integrate without burning.

The Anatomy of Pure Confectionery

Why adult candy connoisseurs choose clean, traditional hard candies over mass-produced alternatives.

Mass-Produced Sweets

  • High-Fructose Corn Syrup: Creates an overly sweet, sticky texture that lingers unpleasantly.
  • Petroleum Dyes: Synthetic colorings linked to hyperactivity and food sensitivities.
  • Artificial Flavor Extracts: Chemically synthesized compounds mimicking fruits.
  • Plastic Packaging: Non-recyclable wrappers that end up in landfills.

Heritage Sweets Standard

  • Pure Cane & Tapioca Syrups: Clean, crisp sweetness that dissolves cleanly on the tongue.
  • Plant-Based Colorants: Extracted from organic beet juice, turmeric, and green tea.
  • Steam-Distilled Oils: Cold-pressed peel oils and true steam-distilled floral waters.
  • Tin & Parchment: Fully recyclable brass tins and compostable vegetable wax paper.

We also produce a specialized line cooked with non-GMO isomalt derived from natural beet sugar for low-glycemic lifestyles.
